Tonight I went to see the Indiana Jones movie. I had heard a lot of bad reviews, a lot of “OMG it’s so lame. It sucked so much.” So I wasn’t expecting much. In fact I pretty much went in expecting to hate it. But I loved it. I don’t know what those people were talking about.
Yes, there are aspects of it that are “out there” but come ON, it’s freaking Indiana Jones, it’s always been “out there.” These movies aren’t exactly known for their realistic nature. I mean the plot point a lot of people thought was lame is truly no more lame or unrealistic than the fact that in EVERY Indiana Jones movie a ton of bad guys, usually some type of military personnel MISS Indiana and his crew completely during an avid round of rapid machine gun firing. I mean give me the “lame” plot point any day over that much obviously bad shooting.
I think there may be more Indiana Jones movies, not with Harrison Ford, I think this movie was to “pass the torch” so to speak. (If you’ve seen it or see it you’ll know what I mean, but I don’t want to give things away.) When they had the trilogy it was like a string of movies, not an unfolding story with a bookend at the front and back. I felt like this movie from a story perspective bookends his story nicely and offers the option of carrying on the franchise for a new generation.
Anyway, there was no real “point” to that. I know I could “tie it in” with writing pretty easily but I’m trying to shift away from every single post being some kind of “and the moral of the story is…” as it pertains to writing. I guess sometimes I just want to talk, and not necessarily talk as “the writer.”

I think we definitely need to step back sometimes and enjoy a story for a story, and stop analyzing it.
I went to Sex and the City tonight. I cried. Multiple times. It was awesome. Better than the whole series. So good, if I write quickly tomorrow and get what I need to get done, I’m gonna go see it again.
Or at least on Sunday. It was that awesome. I love a movie where I come out of the theater and can’t wait to see it again.

Hey Spy, yeah I want to see that one too. I loved the series. Mr. Big. Sigh.

Zoe, I enjoyed this movie so much. Maybe it was superficial, but I didn’t care. Spielberg and Ford still have it. Loved the humor.
Loved Sex and the City too. Beneath the designer clothes were real problems a lot of women in cheaper clothes are going through right now.
So far this summer, I’ve seen Iron Man, Indy, and Sex. Three winners!
