I finally got around to watching episode 10 of True Blood. It was … intense. Is putting it mildly. Could Eric BE any yummier?
I’m thinking no.
And holy crap, Bill is annoying. He’s just so “good” and “blah blah blah.” They are playing Bill up as too nice on the show, and it’s annoying me. In the books Bill was fairly cold, IMO.
I like how dark this is playing out. Some people have said that the show is darker than the books. I think the show is a little bit different from the books, but I think the books are pretty dark. You just don’t notice it cause A. they’re books, and it’s easier to disconnect from a lot of violent/sexual subtext in the vampire scenario.
Even if you know intellectually what’s happening, it’s so much different when you see it visually.
And B. since the books are told in first person, and Sookie has a very quirky and engaging voice, you don’t really think about how dark some of it is, because it’s coming through the filter of her voice.
But before they ever made the show, when I was reading the book before the latest one, I was thinking “This would be cool on film, but how the hell would they film it? They’d have to cut a lot out for TV.”
HBO is one of the few stations that could have done this show. Though it’s not a perfect show. Some things about it annoy me. Some of the accents are over the top and inconsistent. None of these people sound like they’re from Louisiana. Some of the subplots are a little WTF, but Eric makes up for it. What little screen time he gets.
Have I mentioned how yummy Eric is?
What I love is all the interactivity that HBO has created for this show. They’ve had the Wiki set up, and they have all these supplemental youtube videos from a site called: Bloodcopy.com (like hardcopy but for the vampire world of True Blood)
And they also have a website for the fellowship of the sun, which is a group against vampires in the books and show: http://www.fellowshipofthesun.org
It’s very cool.

It’s totally my Sunday night trash ‘o’ rama show lol. Seriously though, yeah Ep 10 was wild with one thing happening after another.I’ve only read the first book which read much milder than where Ball has taken it. Some of it went over the top but I’m always interested to see how things happen. I’m curious to see how the end plays out since he changed a lot of things leading up to it.
If you loved Eric in Ep 10, look out in Ep 11! Whoo! You’ll be rewinding a certain scene I’m sure!
You saw the bathtub ep a few episodes ago, yes? hehe.
I agree about the pre-show campaigning. They really went all out and I love the behind the scenes of the Blood Copy vids. I kinda wish they would have a web series with those characters so we can see what happens. The comic book opened up the story but since the show focuses on the book characters, it never really came to a climax.
Oh yes, co-signing the Eric yum factor.

Hehe Rae, Yes, I’ve seen every episode.
Eric is so freaking hot. He’s just so damn commanding. How can anyone love Bill. (And I know Edie you love Bill. Sorry, sorry. But Eric is so… yum. Viking. yum. I can’t make full sentences right now. Yum.)

I’m on Book 6 (don’t tell me anything!
, and Episode 3 or 4 of True Blood. I’m loving the books, and the show… well, Eric on the show doesn’t fit the one in my mind so much. I like Bill less and less with each book.
Right now? I love Quinn. (DON’T TELL ME ANYTHING!) Talk about YUM!
LOL!

Hey Spy, I’m not going to tell you. Hahaha you’re so paranoid now.
I just spoiled you that one time, that tiny tiny bit.
And trust me, Eric gets hotter and feels more “Eric-y” as the show goes on.
Didn’t you LUV book 4? OMG OMG. Eric… *swoon* Poor Tom, he’s been upstaged by an imaginary vampire.
Yes, Bill is a poophead.
My only problem with Quinn is (well there are other things, but I can’t spoil you cause you won’t like me anymore hehe) he’s not Eric.

I loved the last episode. Even my husband loved it.
Zoe, who are the books written by, again? (I’m getting senile. Sorry.)

Charlaine Harris. And the first book in the series is called: Dead Until Dark.
