Cynthia Eden is writing a paranormal romance series right now that I’m really into. I recently finished the second book in the series: Midnight Sins

It’s about a sweet succubus named Cara who after deciding to give up sex, falls for a human male who makes her rethink that.

So ordinarily I’m all about growly alpha dominant men. And to me, it just doesn’t typically “play right” if the chick is somehow physically stronger than him. I don’t know why that’s an issue for me, it just is.

So knowing, going in, that this was about a succubus, arguably a powerful demon, and a human male, I wasn’t sure how I’d feel about it. If it hadn’t been by Cindy, I probably would have given it a pass.

But I really like Cindy’s writing style and the fact that she doesn’t bore us for thirty pages with blah blah blah, but gets to the point. Every scene counts; it all matters. There is no extraneous stuff.

So I gave this a try. So going back to the “sweet succubus” concept… I know that sounds like an oxymoron, but Cara really is a “sweet” character. And not annoying/saccharine sweet, but just genuinely nice. And despite this power she has, she’s also incredibly vulnerable. So it played on the page for me.

I really recommend this book and the first book in this series, Hotter After Midnight. And I’m really looking forward to the third book in the series coming out this summer, Midnight’s Master.

The third book features a hot and very powerful demon named Niol, who sort of runs the city. He showed up in the first book and I had such a fiction crush on him. When I found out Cindy had a whole novel where he was the hero, I was thinking: Yep, me and Cindy are simpatico.
