2012: Choose Your Path This Year

It’s been brought to my attention, that two types of people think: “something is going to happen in 2012″… well yes, something happens all the time. Things happen, sometimes good things, sometimes bad things, sometimes big things, sometimes little things, sometimes things on a train, sometimes things in the rain… sorry went to the Dr. Seuss place, there.

Anyway, there are two basic things people who “believe in 2012″ think. One side is the doomsday prophecies. There are almost unlimited ideas of all the awful/evil things that could happen in 2012, presumably because of the Mayans, or planetary alignment or whatever. The other side thinks in more positive terms, that 2012 is going to mark some kind of mass spiritual awakening where we will FINALLY start to love each other and STOP trying to coerce each other in big and small ways.

This second option is also usually thought to have something to do with the Mayans, planetary alignment, or whatever. (Another thing that could be brought in is the “age of Aquarius”… the idea that there are these various “earth ages” where certain attitudes prevail on the planet.)

The way I see it… mass hysteria is bad. When large groups of people think and behave in a negative way, they can create self-fulfilling prophecies. If you have to believe something is going to “happen” in 2012, then for the sake of everybody else, believe in the more optimistic thing. Believe and put all your energy into the hope of a mass spiritual awakening leading people to expanded awareness and peace toward each other. Thinking in terms of doomsday helps no one. And if you really believe in doomsday, then you wouldn’t have the power to stop it… that’s why it’s called ‘doomsday’. The power you do have is in what you choose to put your energy into.

Make it your goal in 2012 to put something positive out into the universe. It doesn’t have to be big things. Be kind to people. Smile. Laugh. Help when you can. Ask for help when you need it. I’m not going to watch the 2012 movie this year because I refuse to feed into mass hysteria even in the form of entertainment. Y2k was pointless mental suffering. A lot of people fluffed it off but a lot of people suffered for nothing because other people just HAD to put that negativity out there.

Choose this year, in 2012 to see the beauty and wonder around you. Choose to give some of that beauty and wonder to someone else. Stop fighting over everything (something I’m working on as a big goal this year. I also want to make my blog a positive/uplifting place this year as much as possible to facilitate a more positive attitude in myself and others). Pick your battles. Understand each other. Love each other.

That is all that matters.

In life we can choose to live on the fear track or the love track. These are two different paths that lead to two very different life experiences. At no time has this contrast been more obvious than now.

This is your year… make it something beautiful.
