Greta is a werecat whose tribe plans to sacrifice her during the next full moon. Her only hope for survival is Dayne, a sorcerer who once massacred most of the tribe. What’s that thing they say about the enemy of your enemy?
Click the link and the KEPT PDF will appear in a new browser window. You can print and save from there. This work is both copyrighted, and registered under a creative commons license. You may copy and share it for free, as long as you attribute the work back to me.
There is also a KINDLE VERSION. If you like KEPT, consider leaving a review on Amazon.com at the Kindle link. Unfortunately Amazon.com is the only place I can’t have it for free, so I set the price at the lowest point they would allow me to ($1.00) and they discounted it from there to 80 cents.
KEPT is now also on Smashwords.com
My Smashwords version is in the following file types:
HTML
Javascript
.mobi (If you have a Kindle you can import it with this version. But .mobi is used for other e-readers as well.)
PDF (though not as pretty as my PDF above)
epub
RTF
LRF (Sony Ereader)
PALM Doc
Plain Text
The formatting for Smashwords isn’t as pretty, but it allows you to read it on multiple devices. It’s set up as “Reader sets the price.” You can get it totally for free, or you can put in an amount to pay (like a donation.) I receive 85% of any payments made.
Also be sure to check out: TherianType.com This site is going to serve as the “hub” of this fictional universe. Feel free to start a post on the discussion forum. There is a thread for Feedback on KEPT, so be sure to let me know there what you liked, didn’t like, want to see more of, or less of in future releases!

Hi Zoe, what a great cover (very important!) and I love novellas/anthologies too so I voted for choice #2. You should listen to us
November 25, 2008 at 7:11 pm
Uh seriously Zoe…I don’t think anyone’s going to click the “buy an organ grinder monkey” button. And anyone *does* have such gall, such a person will find bunch of us lined up and waiting to kick their snarky little behinds!

It doesn’t sound like anything I’ve read before but if Kel is excited about it then it’s got my interest! (I’m at a crucial bit of WFS so I MUST finish that first.)
I look forward to it.
Aren’t new books fun?!
November 25, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Hehe Catie. Actually my best friend thought it would be funny to vote for that haha. So she did. And then she re-voted for the one she wanted to try to balance it back out haha. I should beat her with a stick. Though people will do that, cause they think it’s funny haha. We’re just ignoring that part, and hoping people don’t think it means I can’t write, haha!
November 25, 2008 at 8:45 pm
Hey Kit, thanks for coming over to the dark side!
And definitely finish Kel’s book first. WFS is really good.
November 25, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Hey Allison, thanks! I am leaning toward finishing these three novellas first. I pretty much want to make sure that people like KEPT enough for me to make that my focus.
November 26, 2008 at 2:01 am
Oh crap, Spy. I don’t know how I missed replying to you. The kindle edition is loaded, but it’ll take 12-72 hours for it to go live. It’s $1.50, because I can’t make it free. It has to be a dollar or more. And I may go back and just make it a dollar. Kindle won’t let you put anything up there for free.

Does Smashwords let you review your book in each format before publishing? When you sent it, did you have typical book formatting (single space indented paragraphs), or was everything left adjusted with spaces between the paragraphs. (I probably should have e-mailed you this question…..)
December 3, 2008 at 4:34 pm
Hey Suitecat, no that’s okay, on the smashwords site, they have a guide you can read on how to format there. But no, you can’t preview any of it. What you do is follow their formatting directions, then upload your file. Then you can check it in the online versions (They say usually the HTML catches any really goofy formatting issues.)
It’s not perfect, but that’s why you’re going to have the simplest file possible. (Directions in the file creation guide on the site.)
December 4, 2008 at 3:36 pm
I think you should not write by committee. Do what you want to do; that’s why you’re an indie.

Hey there, just read “Kept” and I am so glad that you are still writing. I found you through your BtVS “Fallen Angels” and “Prophesies and Fate” and have missed your writing. Glad you are still sharing your talent with the world. I loved “Kept” by the way. Hope you write more in this verse. I would love to see the characters developed more. Thanks for sharing.
December 13, 2008 at 6:56 pm
Hey IT, thanks for following me over to original fic. I’m glad you liked KEPT!
Pretty much everything I’m writing is in this “verse.” But I have two more novellas directly in this series.
Next year I’ll be combining KEPT along with the other two novellas into my first print release.
Thanks for reading!

[...] Zoe Winters has started a trilogy of paranormal romance novellas. In her first novella she writes about a woman, Greta, whose destiny is to die unless she gets and evil sorcerer, Dayne, to help her and protect her. Along the way they fell in love. Then the betrayal of parents and the threat of doom start to complicate their relationship. Though with the help of an unexpected “friend” the day is saved, but all is far from well. This book can be found for free on her website. [...]
